FCSC gives up 2 goals late in the game
Published Sep 23, 2018

North Hills, California- FCSC the Storm faced the newly promoted Kern County Mustangs FC at Heritage Christian High Scool on Saturday with field temps of 157 degrees.  In the 76th minute, the Mustangs broke the scoreless tie and capped off a 2-0 victory with a second goal in the 85th minute.  Just promoted to the Pro-Premier Division of the UPSL  Kern County collects the first "W" in their new Division but at the expense of Santa Clarita who are still looking for their first points in the Fall season.

Both teams with several opportunities in the game, several on-target shots in the first half defender Pablo Nunez moving up on the right side in the first half caught a pass from Captain Defending Midfielder Brett Croft and shot on target hit the crossbar, Gabriel Batista had another opportunity for FCSC but it was on target to the keeper.  Kern County had their share of shots on goal as well but FCSC defense was solid and prevented most from getting through, and those that did FCSC keeper Kyle Cunningham spoiled any hopes for the Mustangs.
It seemed a game of who would make the first mistake and unfortunately it was Santa Clarita on defensive error allowed Kern Country to break away and get behind the defense and catch Cunningham off balance and in the 76th minute Miguel Lastra post the first goal on the day. Without an offensive result, the defense can only hold up so long and in the 85
th minute Kern Counties Dennis Revis added to the count for the Mustangs and capping off the victory.
FCSC will now regroup until their next game that will be October 6th. vs Cal FC game time and location TBA.
